My name is Jeffrey Tolliver and I have a strong passion for anything computer and digital media related. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science at Louisiana State University, but my hobbies have always had a much more broad range than that of my current studies and most of these hobbies stemmed from my love of video games.
I never had any deep interest in computers until I turned 13 years old and was introduced to the concepts of emulation and video game modification. These concepts showed me how computers can be used to do amazing things with the right programming skills. I wouldn’t actually begin to write programs until I was 17, but the time in between built my knowledge of digital media. The first time I used a computer to do something beyond the ordinary was when I made a video presentation in my 7th grade science class on ocean life. I used a tool to modify the text that appeared in Super Mario 64 to display interesting trivia on the ocean while using chroma key compositing to add video of Mario swimming to actual ocean footage. This experience led me to have a deep interest in the tools that were available to me to do more amazing tasks like this. Years later in Junior year of high school, I learned how to code with Visual Basic and from this I learned that with enough time and effort I could be one of the people creating the tools that sparked my interest in computers when I was 13. It was clear by then that I wanted to study Computer Science and not Law (still not sure why I wanted to study Law in the first place).
That backstory brings me to my decision to create this website. StarSummit is my way of keeping that interest in using the tools available to me strong. It will serve as a creative space in which I can easily test my development skills and work on personal projects and host that Nintendo news feed while making this all easily accessible to anybody who is interested.
